Innovative Methods Of Teaching
Adult Education

Education is incomplete if it only emphasizes on classroom teaching. Overall development of a child is possible, only if the child gets an opportunity to develop confidence, hone additional skills, express views and showcase his/her talents.

TCSRD has been organizing the talent festival for the village school children, christened “Bal-Utsav” since 2005. The employee volunteers adopt different schools and guide and train the students over a period of 2 months for various competitions –singing, dancing, elocution, painting, sports events and science exhibitions.
At TCSRD Haldia, children week is celebrated in 4 primary schools of Haldia. During this week, different programs such as awareness sessions on personal hygiene, cultural program outdoor games etc. are organized.

The single biggest characteristic of the education project has been their ability to galvanize entire communities into believing that learning must become an integral part of their lives.
One of the great strengths of the adult education programme has been the involvement of women. The Adult Education programme has contributed in a significant way to better enrolment of children in schools. The women attending the adult education program are now taking interest in quality of education for their children also. Literacy and adult education campaigns have actively promoted gender equity and have sought to empower them as to decision-making about themselves, their families and their communities.

The effects of adult education on health and hygiene are indeed most significant. Raising the functional literacy level of a community leads to a demonstrable decline in fertility and infant mortality rates. Adult education has helped spread knowledge about health care and nutrition, thereby enabling mothers to keep their families in better health and to care better for their children.

The Book bank project has benefitted more than 900 students in the Haldia region.

Every year, under desh ko arpan program 90-95 students availed the scholarship.

Under Girl child education program, 85 students belonging to the socially disadvantaged class were provided scholarship to complete the degree courses. These girls are affiliated to the SNDT college. After completion of their course they get the certificate from SNDT college.

345 children from 23 primary schools of Okhamandal participated in Bal Utsav Program. Prizes & certificates were distributed to the winners and consolation prizes were given to all the participants.
Under adult education program 400 women and girls benefitted in Gunnaur region and 200 women members of SHG have undergone functional literacy program in 3 villages in Mithapur.
