The low literacy rate is one of the impediments for the development of the society. Illiterate parents seldom have the motivation to teach their children leading to low standard of living. Though scattered efforts have been made in the past to improve the literacy rate in the region, TCSRD has now started taking sustained initiatives in this direction. Women, mostly members of the self help groups have been the enthusiastic participants of this program.

The program has been implemented in Babrala and Mithapur. Though, it’s a small step towards empowering the rural women, overall the program has helped the women to make informed decisions in their lives.
